Myself and Others helps 5th graders adapt to the changes encountered during middle school.  Students explore and learn about the intellectual, emotional, and social components of life at school.  Topics include:  friendship, bullying, and role modeling.  Students learn communication, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.  As an adjunct to this course, during first trimester students receive instruction about puberty.

Making Choices explores the influences and choices students encounter as they approach adolescence. Topics include: friendship, bullying, peer pressure, stress management, perfectionism, and puberty.

 

Students also take part in a program called Freedom From Chemical Dependency.

7th Grade Human Sexuality is an abstinence-based program that provides accurate health information, promotes thoughtful decision making, and encourages learners to identify their values and to accept responsibility for their behaviors. Topics include:  puberty, anatomy and physiology, reproduction, gender identity and differences, consequences of sexual activity, and decision making.

8th Grade Human Sexuality builds on the foundation laid in the 7th grade course.  Topics include: a review of reproductive anatomy and puberty, sexually transmitted diseases, media influences, peer pressure and refusal skills, setting goals, healthy relationships, and decision making.

 

Students also take part in a program called Freedom From Chemical Dependency.
