The Capstone Project
allows a senior to explore deeply a particular interest.
Although a student may choose a more traditional academic
approach such as a research paper, other options such as
creative writing, fine art performances, or experiments, are
encouraged.
Successful completion of a project includes satisfactory
progress reports; work as a peer evaluator; an exhibition; and a
final written component.
The Community Service
graduation requirement is 48 hours of service. 24 hours must be
completed prior to the completion of 10th grade. The final 24
hours of community service may begin the summer before junior
year. Of these 24,
a minimum of 12 must be to a single project. During each
two-year block, 10 hours
may come from school service opportunities.
Senior Projects
allow
a senior to develop, participate in, and help evaluate an
experience which he or she would not have a chance to do in a
regular school year and which involves service to the community
at large. Ideally,
projects go beyond the routine experiences encountered during
the summer and explore areas beyond the student’s normal
activities.
