Step I: Submit the following no later than December 7, 2007.
• Non-refundable $100 application fee
• Applicant/Family Information
• Family Statement
• Parent/Guardian Meeting Registration
• Request for Financial Aid Application
Step II: Register for CATS Testing by December 7, 2007.
CATS testing is an application requirement for students applying to pre-kindergarten - 1st grade. The cost of the testing ($275) is not included in the application fee. Testing is conducted independently by Collaborative Academic Testing Service (CATS) and a summary of the results is sent to parents. Please use the enclosed CATS Registration form. This form must be mailed directly to CATS to schedule your one-on-one testing. Testing will begin in September. The sessions are approximately one hour. The CATS Test is scored according to a very specific age based scale. Please do not wait to schedule the CATS Test, as spots are limited. CATS Test fee waivers are available on a case-by-case basis. You may contact any of the schools requiring CATS testing to receive an application for a fee waiver.
Step III: The following forms must be received no later than January 18, 2008.
• Confidential School Report
• Confidential Teacher Evaluation
• Official School Transcripts and/or Progress Reports
The Teacher Evaluation, Confidential School Report and Official Transcript or Progress Report must be sent directly to Greenhill from the applicant’s current school and teacher. The Admission Office will not accept forms sent by parents. It is the family's responsibility to see that Greenhill receives these forms before the deadline. The applicant’s family must submit the enclosed Official Transcript/ Progress Report Release Form to the applicant’s school in order for this information to be sent to Greenhill. Transcripts may consist of progress reports, test results and letter or numeric grades.
Step IV: Upon receipt of your Parent/Guardian Registration form, you will receive a letter confirming your meeting date and your Group Observation. Your Group Observation date is assigned by the Admission Office.
Parent/Guardian Meetings allow the Admission Committee to gain a better understanding of both the family and the applicant. These meetings are conducted by an admission officer, last approximately thirty minutes, and involve only the parent(s) or guardian(s).
Group Observations will be conducted in January and involve only the applicants. Group Observation testing spaces are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the date that the application is received in the Admission Office. This observation is a series of group and individual tasks and activities. It is administered by the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten faculty on Saturdays, and will take approximately one hour. In order to help alleviate possible separation anxiety on observation day, we offer an optional visit time on the Wednesday or Thursday afternoon before the group observation. During the afternoon visit, from 2:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m., the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten faculty introduce both applicant and family to the classroom. Each year we have ample but limited Group Observation spaces that are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Once these spaces are filled, regardless of the date, we are unable to create additional spaces and therefore unable to accept or consider additional applications.
Step V: Admission Decisions
Decision letters will be mailed on March 14, 2008, to those applicants meeting the above deadlines. All applications received after the December 7, 2007, deadline will be reviewed on a rolling admission basis if Group Observation spaces are still available.
