With rock music blaring and tents dotting the meadow at
Norbuck Park like a scene from a regional jamboree, more
than 2,000 people people were on hand Saturday, August 29,
2009 to participate in the opening of this year’s cross
country season.
1,500 high school runners from 60 different schools competed
in this year’s Greenhill/Luke’s Locker 6 Mile Relay.
Sponsored in part by Aisics, the 6 Mile Relay traditionally
opens the cross country season for high school teams in north
Texas and beyond. The founder of the event, Tom Holodak,
returned for this year’s race
from his current work as Athletic Director at Augusta (GA)
Prep Academy. He is Greenhill’s former cross country and
track coach.
