Young Hornet Volleyball Squad Faces
Tough Non-Conference Schedule

The
Greenhill Hornets look to extend its six-year undefeated
reign in the North Zone during the 2000 season with the help
from a couple of solid returning starters and a few
promising newcomers.
The
Hornets will be anchored by the returning starting
combination of junior outside hitter Mercedes Posey and
junior setter Lauren Schanbaum. Posey was the leading
blocker and attacker for Greenhill last season while
Schanbaum averaged eight assists per match. Newcomers for
the Hornets include sophomore outside hitters Autumn
Erickson and Kim Briant, along with sophomore middle blocker
Kristin Goss and senior opposite hitter Mara Weinstein.
Head
coach Michelle McGuire is looking forward to a tough
schedule, including six matches against area 5A schools and
two 5A volleyball tournaments. She believes this season’s
early competition will allow her young squad an opportunity
to build on last year’s SPC Division I runner-up finish.
