Hornets bring home championship from Canada

The Greenhill School
varsity boys volleyball team returned recently from Edmonton,
Alberta, Canada undefeated and with a first-place trophy.
Greenhill senior and team captain Jeremy Jacobs was recognized
as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.
The
seventh annual sanctioned Lion’s International Western
Canadian Challenge Volleyball Tournament was held Oct.18-20.
Morinville Community High School of Edmonton was host to 96 of
the top boys and girls volleyball teams from the United States
and Canada.
Under
the guidance of Head Coach Keith Nannie (359-82), the Hornets
are currently undefeated, with 40 wins. Greenhill has not lost
since last year’s finals of the Western Canadian Challenge,
and is currently undefeated in Southwest Preparatory Conference
(SPC) action. The Hornets last SPC loss was in the conference
finals in 1998.
Coach
Nannie, at Greenhill since 1988, has won five SPC titles since
1993, including two undefeated seasons. During the 2000 season,
Nannie earned his 300th win en route to a 48 – 1 season and
another SPC title.
The
team will play SPC counter games against Fort Worth Country Day
and Oklahoma City Casady before ending the season at the SPC
Championships in Fort Worth Nov. 1-2. Tournament
