Greenhill wins North Zone title,
prepares for SPC Tournament

Greenhill
won its 49th and 50th North Zone matches in row to secure its
eight consecutive Zone championship. The Hornets will enter the
SPC tournament as the No. 1 seed on Thursday and will face the
fourth seed from the south.
Greenhill’s
Oklahoma road trip was kick started by defeating Tulsa Holland
Hall last Friday 15-10, 15-11. Saturday, the Hornets completed
their sweep of the North Zone with a three-game victory over
Oklahoma City Casaday 15-7, 10-15, 15-5.
"I
feel like it is a sign of consistency in our program that we can
win it that many years in a row as the North Zone champions,”
Greenhill Head Coach Michelle McGuire said. “It shows the
focus and a sense of pride on the players' part to be able to
win it without a loss."
The
Hornets were led offensively with Elizabeth Barnwell's 25 kills
and 5 blocks, while Autumn Erickson's recorded 22 kills and 3
blocks. Senior Lauren Schanbaum accumulated 70 assists over the
course of the weekend.
The
SPC tournament begins for Greenhill on Thursday 9:30 a.m. at
Fort Worth Trinity Valley.
