Hornets recover with three straight wins
(9/18/01)

After falling two points short of reaching the semi-finals of the Arlington Tournament, Greenhill has recovered nicely with three consecutive wins. Greenhill has defeated Hockaday, Oakridge and Bishop Lynch all in two games. The team cancelled their trip to Chicago in light of the tragedies on Sept. 11.

Greenhill has been led by the powerful attack of Elizabeth Barnwell and Autumn Erickson. Their great hitting can be attributed to excellent passing of Leslie Hunt, Kim Briant, and Erickson. The skilled passing, combined with the outstanding setting of senior captain Lauren Schanbaum, has helped make it easy for Barnwell and Erickson to put balls down on a consistent basis. Over the three-game span, Barnwell has registered 30 kills and Erickson has 17. Schanbaum has accumulated 66 assists during these three matches. Linden Chalfant has served very well the last two weeks, as she has served seven aces over her last three matches.

Greenhill has improved its record to 18-9. In the week ahead, Greenhill will face FW Nolan on Wednesday and TCA on Friday for Homecoming.

17-15 three-game victory. The Hornets' junior varsity squad, which is made up of all freshman, blanked Bowie in the first game before dropping the second game 8-15. Greenhill improved to 2-0 on the season with a 15-9 win in the final game against Bowie.
