Boys
Lacrosse looks to improve
(03/13/02)
Greenhill
varsity boys lacrosse coach Chris Hartley hoped for his best
season yet in spring 2002. Although his team offered a chorus of
hope that they would make this Hartley’s best season ever in
his fourth and final year at Greenhill, things have not gone
exactly the way Hartley planned. After finishing third at the
Red Tournament in Shreveport, La. with a 3-1 record, Greenhill
has fallen into a 0-3 slump after Tuesday’s 18-4 loss to
Episcopal School of Dallas.
“It’s
been difficult,” Hartley said. “We should have been more
competitive. Right now the team lacks focus and that is
something we are working on.”
Hartley hopes
that setting up different situations in practice will help
Greenhill prepare for the rest of the season, and create more
teamwork.
Against ESD,
Taylor Burks scored Greenhill’s first goal to make it 3-1, but
ESD score 18 points by halftime and decided to not run up the
score in the second half. Goalies Matt Johnson and Scott
Shtofman played well as they tried to stop the many shots on
goal.
Hartley is
proud of his three senior captains, LaDarien Gillins, Raul Fabre
and David Webster who have tried to step up as leaders.
Jeff
Allgeier is Greenhill’s leading scorer with four goals.
