Greenhill
hits the court with solid roster
(03/05/02)
With the help of catcher-turned tennis player, Jason
Klein, Greenhill varsity boys tennis coach Pierre
Craig says this season is the most talented team he’s had in
the past few years.
“We may surprise a few teams,” Craig said. “This is a
good group of talented kids. Now its just a matter of finding
out where to put them.”
After having knee surgery last year, Klein, a sophomore,
switched from baseball to tennis this season. Klein is a Super
Champ and is best known for his ability to play baseline and
into the net.
A freshman trio of Trevis Bowman,
Christopher Wu and James
Webb will challenge for key positions. Webb is known
for his drive, while Wu and Bowman are both Super Champs.
Seniors Derrick Chen is
known for his strong ground stokes, and ability to think and act
quickly on the court. Senior Zach
Thomas is known for fighting through difficult
situations and great top spin on his shots, and senior Justin
Cohen is a strong all-around athlete.
Junior Alex Gutor is
known for his serve and great ground strokes.
Last
year, Greenhill finished seventh in Division I SPC tennis, and
looks to upset Saint Marks and Tulsa’s Holland Hall, who
return strong teams this season.
