Senior Matt Rosenfeld puts Greenhill
golf on the map

Nationally
known as one of the leading high school golfer, Matt
Rosenfeld won his fourth-consecutive Southwest
Preparatory Conference individual Champion title. Rosenfeld, who
play at Texas this fall, shot back-to-back scores of 68, to best
the nearest golfer by 10 strokes.
A three-time
first-team AJGA All-American, Rosenfeld won the 2000 U.S. Junior
Amateur championship. En route to the victory, he became the
first golfer since Tiger Woods to win both the stroke-play and
match play competitions at the U.S. Junior
Amateur. The
youngest boy to ever win an AJGA-sanctioned event (captured the
1998 DirecTV Junior Classic at 14 years, 9 months and 13 days),
he was ranked No. 1 in the final 2000 Golfweek/Titleist Junior
Amateur rankings. A three-time SPC boys state medallist,
Rosenfeld earned Polo's AJGA Player of the Year honors in 2000
and has claimed four AJGA individual titles to date.
With the loss
of Rosenfeld, Brian Portner
and Steven Nosnick, coach Rich
Tompkins said it is now time to rebuild.
Greenhill
finished 10th as a team, with a score of 335-332-667,
41 points higher than team winner, Kinkaid.
For the
third-consecutive year, Greenhill won the Metroplex Independent
School Conference Golf Championship in the boys division. Led by
Rosenfeld's round of 68, the Hornets won with a combined total
of 319 for four golfers, 10 points lower than All Saints, who
finished second overall.
Greenhill
junior Chris Wright shot his
person best, a 74, to finish in second place.
At the
Oakridge Golf Tournament Greenhill finished second with a four
person total of 335 placing behind ESD of Houston who had a 333.
Rosenfeld led all golfers with a 73. Portner finished with a 84,
Chris Wright, 88, and Michael Levy,
90.
