Hornets
bring home title from Oklahoma City
(09/22/02) The Greenhill boys volleyball
team traveled to Oklahoma City to compete in the Red River
Shootout at Casady. The Hornets went 6-0 over the two-day
period to claim another tournament title.
The team
served tough jump serves, which caused the opponents much
difficulty. Also, Greenhill ran an unstoppable quick offense. The
team passed well, and were able to run their combinations
throughout the whole tournament.
Again this
season, Greenhill has a very powerful team, and when they’re
passing and playing defense, they can run the offense
effectively. Since the defense was solid, the Hornets were
able to run quick-transition plays. Brennan Meier and Craig
Cardwell were selected as all-tournament players, and Alex Gutor
was selected as MVP.
Gutor
led all hitters with 45 kills for the tournament. Josh
Feldman had 31 kills and 12 blocks. Meier had 106 assists and
nine blocks. Cardwell added 38 kills and eight blocks. Ben
Siegelman led the defense with 38 digs.
