Conference
action begins for Greenhill
(09/27/02)
The girls volleyball team handled the Hockaday Daisies
with little difficulty on Thursday night, winning 15-9, 15-10.
Greenhill was led by Senior Autumn Erickson, with 11 kills often
hitting on an open net due to middle blocker Linden Chalfant and
Liz Barnwell's effort to hold the opposing middle.
"I
am encouraging my middles to work harder on transition to open
things up for the outside,” Greenhill head coach Michelle
McGuire said. “When Autumn and Kim have a one on one
situation, they are going to score."
Junior
Kim Briant continues to pace the Hornets on defense. She is
third in the area with 261 digs, averaging over 10 a match. She
is also hitting an impressive .305%.
"Kim has stepped up her game this season and is
playing consistently while showing tremendous leadership,”
McGuire said.
Junior
Elizabeth Barnwell also contributed to the Hornets’ attack,
with seven kills, seven digs and one block.
The
Hornets’ next match will be a rematch of last season’s SPC
championship match, as Greenhill travels to Trinity Valley on
Thursday, October 3.
