Greenhill announces coaching changes
(09/08/03)
In addition to the appointment of two new in-house coaching
changes, the Greenhill Athletics department announces the
hiring of two new head coaches for the 2003-04 school year.
Darryn Sandler will be the head varsity girls basketball
coach for the 2003-04 season, while Regan Fowler has
already begun her duties as head cheerleading coach.
Curt Lowry joins the Greenhill coaching staff as head
baseball coach for the 2004 season. Coach Lowry comes to
Greenhill with an impressive resume, including recent coaching
stints with Highland Park and the Dallas Tigers select team.
As head coach of the Tigers for four years, Coach Lowry led
his 14 and under team to a national title and a 65-10-4 record
this past season.
Coach Lowry competed in baseball and track at Paris High
School, where he helped his team win the 4A state baseball
title in 1989. He was drafted out of high school by the
Cincinnati Reds as a centerfielder and spent the following
year learning to bat left handed at Western Oklahoma State
College. Coach Lowry finished his college career at McNeese
State University, before signing with the San Diego Padres in
1995.
In addition to his role as head baseball coach
at Greenhill, Coach Lowry will also help coach middle school
boys' volleyball and girls' basketball.
Amy Sullivan will lead the Greenhill
girls lacrosse program as head coach for the 2004 season. She
was a four-year letter winner at the University of Delaware,
and as an unrecruited student-athlete, she earned a starting
position her freshman year, before going on to become the
North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Year. She is a
three-time All-Conference Pick, 1999 Team MVP, and 1999
Third-Team All-American.
While playing at Delaware, her team enjoyed
spots as a top 20 team in Division I. Coach Sullivan led the
team in goals two out of her four years, holds the school
record for most assists by a sophomore, and was integral to
the team winning it's conference three consecutive years. She
was also a Dean's List Student and Academic All-American.
After finishing her career at Delaware, she
went on to serve as an assistant coach at the University of
Pennsylvania from 1999-2002. During her tenure at Penn, she
helped the team recover from a 1-12 record, to top 20 rankings
and national recognition. Coach Sullivan also helped produce
six All-Ivy League players, two Mid-Atlantic All-Americans,
and one Brine All-American.
