Oakridge and Holland Hall fall to
Greenhill
(10/25/03)
The
Greenhill Hornets squared off against the Oakridge Owls, in a
non-counter game, on Tuesday in the Phillips Family Athletic
Center. Oakridge, having moved to the South Zone for two
years, is a team Greenhill has handled for the past several
seasons. A new zone and new coach made little difference in
the contest, as the Hornets came out, took the lead, and never
trailed in three games. Leading the Hornets offensively were
Liz Barnwell with 11 kills and Mandy Smith with 18 assists.
Greenhill returned to North Zone action on Friday, traveling
to Tulsa to face Holland Hall. It was a quick night for the
Holland Hall, as the Hornets took the match in three games.
After a slow start, Greenhill came storming back to take game
two 25-11. The third game featured a serving clinic by
sophomore Jennifer Davis who had a serving run where she
recorded 7 aces. Senior Liz Barnwell led the Hornets with 11
kills and senior setter Mandy Smith dished out 24 assists.
Greenhill will look to close out conference play with Hockaday
on Tuesday and end their season with Senior Night at 5:30 p.m.
on Thursday, October 30.
Record:
24-9, 5-0
