The
Greenhill boys lacrosse team fell 10-4 to ESD, the reigning
state champions, on Mar. 23. The Hornets started off with
quick goals by Neil Zimmerman to open the game, but the
defense allowed several goals in the second quarter.
After the
half, the reenergized team shutout the Eagles in the third
quarter. With 10 seconds left in the third quarter, captain
Adam Sparks found an open Charlie Stern on the crease for a
quick score. The Hornets could not withstand a late-game rally
by the Eagles, although the team played hard to the end.
Sparks added another goal late in the fourth quarter.
Despite the
loss, Greenhill showed a lot of improvement from its losing
score of 16-2 suffered last year to ESD. The team is relying
heavily on the skills of goalie Peter Natseway. Defenseman
John Harding, attackman Brett Holloway, and midfielder Justin
Weisenfeld have also made solid contributions to the team.
Greenhill is
now 3-3, and is facing three upcoming games in four days
against Southlake, St. Andrews, and Jesuit.
