Turnovers spell defeat for Greenhill
(10/11/04)

The Greenhill varsity football team jumped to an early 14-0 lead against Episcopal High School (Houston) on Fri., Oct. 8, but the Hornets' defense was unable to hold back late-game surges by the Knights, all resulting from Greenhill turnovers.

Junior quarterback Jeffrey Boyd led Greenhill to touchdowns on the first two possessions of the ball game, before being carried off the field on a stretcher with a neck injury in the final minutes of the first quarter. Senior James Rahardja scored both touchdowns for the Hornets, including a 37-yard pass from punter Sam Coffman on a fake punt.

Greenhill entered the final quarter of the contest behind 16-14, but we unable to make up ground following four turnovers, three of which gave EHS the ball with less than 15 yards to the endzone. The Knights scored 17 points in the final quarter of the game, handing Greenhill its fourth-straight loss of the season, bringing the season record to 2-4 (0-4 in SPC Division I).

Greenhill will return home to host Fort Worth All Saints on Fri., Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. on Brinkmann Field. All Saints is currently riding a six-game win streak, including wins over ESD, Fort Worth Country Day, Trinity Valley and Cistercian. The Saints have outscored their last six opponents by an average margin of 44-9.
