Greenhill School Hires Head
Football Coach
(posted June 15, 2005)
Following a
comprehensive national search, Greenhill School
announced Blake Ware as its twentieth head football
coach. A veteran of the coaching ranks with 14-years
experience, Ware comes to Greenhill from St. Pius X High
School in Houston, Texas, where he enjoyed success as
the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.
In seven seasons as offensive coordinator at St. Pius,
Coach Ware helped lead his team to three consecutive
TAPPS District 3 titles and the 1999 TAPPS 5A state
championship. In six of his seven seasons at St. Pius,
the offense averaged more than 350 yards per game and
won at least seven games.
“We are thrilled that Coach Ware brings outstanding
experience, a passion for excellence, and a proven
commitment to education,” said Scott Griggs, head of
school. “His enthusiasm and background make him an
exceptional addition to Greenhill.”
"We are very fortunate to find a man with Blake Ware's
expertise and knowledge to lead our football program,”
said Earl Dorber, athletic director. “He possesses the
positive qualities that we look for in our campus role
models."
Coach Ware replaces David Roberts, who was recently
named the assistant head coach and recruiting
coordinating at Howard Payne University in Brownwood,
Texas. Under Coach Roberts, the Hornets had three
consecutive 9-win seasons, including an SPC championship
in 2000.
“To be a part of the Greenhill community is something
that is very special to me,” said Coach Ware. “The
tradition of excellence at Greenhill in every area of
developing young people is outstanding. My goal is to
provide a football program that the entire Greenhill
community can be proud of.”
