The Greenhill varsity
boys’ volleyball team opened the Greenhill Invitational
on Sept. 16 strong by defeating St. Mary’s Hall and EHS
in two decisive victories. Later than evening, the team
lost its first match in three close games against
Trinity Valley. The Hornets came back strong the next
morning, by defeating FWCDS, St. John’s, Arrowhead and
St. Mark’s to earn a spot in the championship game.
The title game matched
up Greenhill against Arrowhead High School from
Wisconsin. Once again, Greenhill stepped up its game and
won the championship trophy. Senior Gabe Oros was named
the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while Junior
Garrett Dobbs was named to the all-tournament team.
"This
team has so much heart," head coach Keith Nannie said.
"Even when they're behind, they have the confidence and
drive to outlast the opponents."
During the tournament, Coach Nannie
earned his 500th career match victory. He has been the
head coach of the boys' volleyball program at Greenhill
for 17 years.
