Coaching Staff:
Heather Farlow
Head Coach, Field Hockey
Heather Farlow came to Dallas in 2001 as the head coach
for the Greenhill field hockey program. She played field
hockey at Rutgers University from 1993-1997, where she
earned her degree in Public Health in 1998. She followed
her bachelor’s degree at Rutgers with a master’s degree
in 2001.
Coach
Farlow began coaching in 1994 as an assistant coach for
the Competitor’s Edge field hockey camp, where she
continued to work with the program through 1997. She has
also served as a camp coach for Wake Forest University,
University of Delaware, and University of New Hampshire.
Coach Farlow assisted the Rutgers field hockey program
in 1998 as a graduate assistant.
In
2000, Coach Farlow started working with the United
States Field Hockey Association as an assistant coach
for the Olympic Development Program. In 2001, she was
named as a head coach for the USFHA Olympic Development
Program in New Jersey. She continued working with the
USFHA program after moving to Dallas, assuming the head
coaching position for the Dallas/Fort Worth site. While
serving in this capacity, she adapted curriculum for
U-19, U-16, and U-14 field hockey players, and assisted
in the selection of players for national tournaments and
camps. After assuming additional responsibilities at
Greenhill, Coach Farlow returned to coaching at the
Olympic Development level in 2006, focusing mainly on
the U 14 level. She has coached at Super Camp, the
National Futures Tournament, and the Field Hockey
Festival.
During her tenure
at Greenhill, Coach Farlow has also taken advantage of
professional development opportunities such as attending
the Futures Coaching Certification course in 2003 and
2005, the Greg Gephart Clinic in 2004 and 2006, and most
recently she traveled to Argentina this past summer,
with Zag Field Hockey, an international field hockey and
event touring company. While in Argentina, she assisted
with the coaching of a team of players from the United
States, interacted with current and former Argentine
Olympians, and observed them coach.
She has been a member of the USFHA since 1995, and a
member of the National Field Hockey Association since
2001. |
