Sveinsson Qualifies for National Cross Country
Championships

Chelsey Sveinsson qualified for the Foot Locker National
High School Cross Country Championships by placing 7th
overall in the South Regional in on Saturday, November
24 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The top 10
runners in the race received automatic berths to the
national championship race.
The south region
qualifier featured the best runners and nearly all the
state champions from 14 states ranging from Texas to
Florida to Virginia to Kentucky. Her 17:22 5K ranks as
the second fastest time ever on the course for a
freshman. The only girl to runner faster was the 2006
national champion.
Chelsey will leave
for San Diego on Thursday, December 6 and race on
Saturday, December 8t. The race is typically
broadcasted on television, and additional details will
be released as soon as they become available.
