Sveinsson wins mile championship at Penn Relays

(04/23/09) Greenhill sophomore Chelsey Sveinsson finished in first place in the high school girls' mile championship race at the Penn Relays, America's oldest and largest track and field carnival, on Thursday, April 23.

Chelsey finished the race with a time of 4:46.85, nearly 13 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. Her time is the fastest mile time by a high school girl in the nation this year. At this moment she has run the #1 national times in the 1600 meters, mile run, and the 3200 meters.

She will compete again next week in the Southwest Preparatory Conference championships being hosted at Greenhill on April 30-May 1, where she will defend her conference titles in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters.
