Girls’ basketball
scores
D-1 bid
By Molly
Mack, Senior Editor
The
varsity girls’ basketball team won the
Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC)
Division I championship in 1999. Next
week, the team will be making its first
trip back to the Division I tournament.
After
Coach Dwight Phillips led his team to
the title, he stayed for one more year
before moving to coach basketball at St.
Mark’s School of Texas.
After a
stint by Art Hall, dean of students,
Darryn Sandler, Upper School math
teacher, took over the head coaching job
in 2003. In the 2003-2004 season, Coach
Sandler’s team won just three games.
This year’s team has won 21.
