Community graciously welcomes evacuees with open hearts, minds
 
On the first assembly of the year, Head of School Scott Griggs spoke to Upper School students about the importance of this year’s theme, community. Ironically, the theme undertook a new meaning just days later, when students, displaced as a result of Hurricane Katrina, applied to Greenhill.

Many of the students have come to the city with little other than a change of clothes and a few possessions. In the past weeks, they have had to adjust to a new home, school, classmates, and clothes. Yet, in light of their misfortune, the temporary visiting students have maintained a positive attitude, and are already vastly contributing to the community. In just a few weeks, they are already becoming vocal leaders in the classrooms, contributing to the fine arts, and having a visible impact on the playing field. read more
