Play and Coach Better Basketball
with Darryn Sandler
We hear parents yell from the stands instructions that are exact opposites of what the coach is teaching. Often, kids play on very successful youth teams yet struggle when they get to high school. Usually, this happens when they have not developed the proper skills that will enable them to compete on a faster and tougher team. Do you want to be a better basketball player and/or coach? Join us and learn to play, coach, and understand the principles and skills of the game. The kids you coach will benefit, as will your own game—your teammates and coaches will love you as never before! All drills will be hands on, but at any time you can decide to participate or to watch. So lace up those shoes for a couple of hours each week and have a ball!

This is Coach Darryn Sandler’s ninth year to coach basketball—5th year to coach the Varsity Girls’ team. In his spare time (!) he teaches Upper School mathematics. He graduated from Greenhill in 1995, and went on to play volleyball (and major in accounting) at Georgetown University. His passions, however, have always been playing and coaching basketball. He has also been a volunteer coach of various boys’ and girls’ YMCA, SVAA, and PSA teams.
