Spanish Conversation
with Lina Thompson

Hola!  Are you ready to have that Spanish conversation that you’ve been dreaming of? Me too. Join us to improve your mastery of the second most spoken language in the world!

If it weren’t for verbs, many say, Spanish would be a cinch, since we already use the same Latin-based words when we speak English. So, if you speak Spanish using infinitives and the present tense, this is the course for you!

We will begin with the assumption that your vocabulary includes many words that are alike in the two languages. We will review the present tense and its uses, but will spend the bulk of the time on the two past tenses, their forms, and their uses. The vocabulary will center on travel, work, and leisure. We will also learn idiomatic expressions, prepositions, and pronouns (and a cuss word or two?).

Sessions: Eight, 120-minute meetings
When: Thursdays, January 22 & 29; February 5, 19 & 26; March 5, 12 & 26
Time: 6:00–8:00pm

Lina Thompson has worked at Greenhill for the last 8 years teaching Spanish to the children in the Child Development Center.

“I’m originally from Cabimas, Venezuela…one of the most beautiful countries in the world. I have a law degree from the University of Zulia and have taught a variety of law courses at my alma mater. After I graduated from law school, I practiced family law. Then one summer, Johnny Thompson, who currently works in Greenhill’s Admission Department and has been a part of the Greenhill Community for almost 15 years, came to my hometown, swept me off my feet, and moved me back to Dallas in 2000. Two years later, we were blessed with two beautiful children (twins), Johnny and Jessica, who immediately changed our lives for the better!  Two shih-tzus, Cacique and Coca Cola complete our family.

“Now that you know a bit about me, why don’t you sign-up for my class so I can learn a little about you? And the best part is that we’ll learn more about each other in Español! Can’t wait to see you in class! No vemos!!”
